Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® Brings the Community Together to Stand Against Gender-Based Violence

YWCA Hanover brought the community together for another impactful Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®, a powerful event dedicated to raising awareness about gender-based violence and supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Participants stepped into red high heels—or comfortable shoes—to walk one mile in solidarity with survivors. The event encouraged meaningful conversations about empathy, healthy relationships, and the importance of standing together to challenge harmful stereotypes and violence against women.

The family-friendly event featured face painting, games, food and drinks, raffles, a silent auction, and awards, creating an atmosphere of community, connection, and purpose. Participants of all ages came together to show that every step can make a difference.

Supporting Survivors Through Safe Home

Proceeds from Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® support YWCA Hanover Safe Home, which provides critical services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault throughout our community. Support helps fund essential resources including crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, and a 24-hour hotline.
