General Questions
Which areas are you interested in volunteering? Please check all that apply:
Booths: Staff booths & give Safe Home information to the public at health fairs and other local events in York and Adams County. Minimum shift of 2 hours. A great way to network and raise awareness and offer our services in the area.
Organizing and Cleaning: Assisting with the pantries at the Hanover and Gettysburg office. Rotating inventory, organizing recent donations to Safe Home, and writing Thank-You cards to donors when needed.
Community Educator: Assisting the Outreach Advocate with speaking engagements for a variety of age groups and communities as available. (Requires extra training)
Hotline Volunteer: Answering our hotline at home via our answering service. A caller will not have access to the volunteer’s information and phone numbers. Hours for on call are 4:30pm-8:00am. Must demonstrate good judgement in a crisis, provided options/empowerment counseling, maintain confidentiality, possess good listening skills, and understand victims of domestic violence. Would be on call at least 1 evening a month. Days are Monday through Friday, no weekends, or holidays are required.
Office Coverage: Assisting the Hanover and Gettysburg locations tending to hotline calls during office hours, completing intakes for clients, and other office duties.
Outreach Volunteer: Deliver and/or distribute Safe Home outreach materials throughout the year. Must have own transportation.
