Malala Workshop

Malala“We need to encourage girls that their voice matters.

I think there are hundreds and thousands of Malalas out there.”

-Malala Yousafzai

As a young girl, Malala Yousafzai defied the Taliban in Pakistan and demanded that girls be allowed to receive an education. She was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman in 2012 but survived. In 2014, she became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

YWCA Hanover is hosting a Malala Workshop on Saturday, March 23, from 9 am to 11 am. Girls in grades first through sixth will learn about Malala, create art projects, play games, have snacks, and more. Space is limited, and the cost is $12. ALL money will be donated to the Malala Fund, which advocates for girls’  education. The workshop will feature sessions with Hanover Public School teachers Marie Willey and Madison Maloney.
